Ever have those days where you walk into your home and look around you and just see utter chaos? You don’t recognize anything around you because your life has been so crazy busy that you don’t even know what day it is? Whenever I have those moments, it’s a great reality check to stop and just breathe for a minute. The last two weeks at work have been so hectic that I haven’t been able to keep up with the little things at home like doing laundry, planning meals for dinner, playing with my dogs and I have even struggled with blogging! When all of that starts to pile up on you, plus the busy work schedule, it can make life seem a little overwhelming. That’s why I wanted to write a blog post about how to take just 15 minutes a day to stay on top of your life so you don’t end up with frazzled hair and bug eyes one day. Because let’s be honest, those dark circles under your eyes aren’t flattering on anyone.

All of these things you can do in 15 minutes to help you catch your breath.

Enjoy! Xo

1. MAKE YOUR BED! Just do it first thing in the morning and be done with it. It’s not fun, no one wants to start off their day by making the bed, but it helps to keep a room looking clean. Also, it starts your day off productively. So just do what your mom has always taught you and make your bed.

2. Respond to e-mails as soon as you get them. Even if you don’t have a definite answer yet to the question, just reply “I will get back to you.” It’s better than it sitting in your inbox for days before you decide to respond. Plus, it gets it off your plate!

3. At home, take your 15 minutes and clean out the nearest drawer or cabinet to you. Throw out any trash, any old stained shirts, whatever it may be. If you did this every day, your house would be organized and neat all the time!

4. Get your stuff ready for the next day, the night before. Make sure you know where your keys are, what you might wear, have your lunch packed, etc. Mornings are rushed as it is, save yourself some time! Need some outfit inspiration? I love Kendi Skeen’s blog, Kendi Everyday, to help me put together great outfits!

5. Visit 5 random (or your favorite) blogs a day. This can help spark creative juices in yourself and give you more energy to get through the rest of your day. I love these to help me get my creative juices flowing : SoulPancake and A Beautiful Mess

6. Start just one load of laundry. It doesn’t matter if this just cleans up the dirty clothes on the floor or empties your laundry basket. Start one load so that you don’t spend an entire day later on doing laundry.

7. Take those 15 minutes and clean out a part of your closet. Having clothes in there that you never wear can be overwhelming and then you stand in your closet pulling your hair out because you can’t find anything to put on! Just get rid of it if you haven’t worn it in 6 months or more! Donate to a local Goodwill or Salvation Army or try and sell them to a local consignment shop!

8. Plan out your meals for a few days or the week! Take some of your favorite recipes or those cookbooks that never get opened and just plan away! This helps with being stressed about what is for dinner each night and saves money from those last minute $25 take out nights! Use this site to help you get started!

9. Go to Whatshouldireadnext.com and find your next book to read! It’s a great site that just has you put in a favorite author or title and spits out a list of other books that you would enjoy!

10. At the end of the day, write down a to-do list of everything you want to try and tackle tomorrow. It helps to get it all off your mind and that way you won’t forget anything tomorrow! Remember The Milk is a great site to help you if you are a techy to-do lister.

11. Take 15 minutes to call or visit someone who makes you happy. We all get so busy to stay caught up with everyone we love, however just a 15 minute phone call can help cheer you up and catch up with someone near and dear to you!

12. Ever wanted to take an anatomy/physiology class but don’t have the time to go to a local college for it? Use iTunes U to download a course you’ve always wanted to learn. Now who is the smarty pants?

13. Feeling lethargic? Take 15 minutes to jump rope, skip or even just do some jumping jacks. You’ll get your heart going and more than likely, you’ll feel more energized when you are done!

14. Take 15 minutes a day to a cleaner home: spend 15 minutes one day dusting your house or a particular room, the next day, vacuum the same area. Or, clean the bathroom sinks and the next day do the tubs. Either way, spend 15 minutes cleaning your home each day and by the end of the week, you have a clean(er) home and don’t have to spend the entire day doing it!

15. Leave your cellphone behind for a bit. Whether you are going to dinner, taking a bath, running errands – leave it behind! The temporary break from being constantly tuned in will help you relax and accomplish what you set out to do!

marg mom outfit quote

1. This margarita recipe is so easy and sounds delish! A must try for this summer.

2. I love homemade gifts for new moms! This Hospital Survival Kit is a perfect treat for her!

3. I adore this outfit of greys on Happily Grey blog. Her style is simple and effortless!

4. This quote can be quite common sense but sometimes it’s a good to have a reminder to not let our emotions get the best of us.

Happy Tuesday everyone! Enjoy! Xo

This past weekend handsome and I were in NOLA for the Jazz Fest and my birthday weekend. We had such a great time! I just love that city. We spent the weekend with my dad just roaming the city, listening to great music, eating yummy food and having a blast! We saw Fleetwood Mac, Black Keys, Pheonix, Little Big Town and many other bands. Also, one of my favorite stops was at Sucre on Magazine Street. Seriously the BEST macaroons I’ve ever had! Here are some pictures from the trip. For my outfits, I tried to make them casual and fun. A hat was definitely needed as spending all day at a festival can be brutal on the skin! If you have any questions about my outfits, please comment below!

Enjoy! Xo

Summer is notoriously hard on women’s hair. The hot temperatures, constant sun and chlorine wreak havoc on our locks. Since I am trying to grow my hair out as much as possible before our wedding, I am taking extra precautions this summer to make sure I treat my hair with some additional TLC! Here are some great tips to keep your hair in great shape through the summer.

1. Use a deep conditioner treatment once a week. Using coconut oil on your hair in the shower is a great option. Before bed, slather it on after your normal shampoo and conditioner routine in the shower, once out of the shower, massage the oil really well into your scalp and roots, then wrap in a cloth that will be comfortable to sleep in. In the morning, rinse it out! If you aren’t sold by the coconut oil, Garnier Fructis makes a great one for only $7.79 at drugstores!

2. Try using a wide-brimmed hat when you know you will be in the sun for a long period of time. This will not only protect your hair from the harsh sun, but also your scalp from getting burned!

3. Keep up your regular trims during the summer. This will help your hair stay healthy and not be weighed down.

4. Try to reduce the use of hairdryers, straighteners and curling irons on your locks. During the summer, your hair is exposed to enough heat and humidity as it is!

5. Keep your shampooing routine to a minimum if possible during the week. If you can go 2-3 days without shampooing your hair, the better your hair will look. If you just can’t stand the idea of not washing your hair every day, try to at least skip the shampoo and put conditioner on your ends then rinse. Dry shampoo is your best friend! Also, wearing your hair up is a great disguise for not freshly washed locks. I have posted some of my favorite summer do’s below!

Enjoy! Xo

1. I just adore braids. This side braid into a low bun is great low-key look for the beach!

2. This up-do is perfect for a day at work or a night out! Love the Grecian-look to it!

3. I adore this trend of lacey and sparkly headbands! It automatically dresses up any messy bun!

4. This low side braid/bun is great for shorter hair styles!

5. Another beautiful side braid. Can you tell I LOVE braids?

6. I had to throw a beachy, wave look into the mix. Plus, this ombre is just stunning.

7. For a day running errands or going to a farmer’s market, why not tie a pretty scarf into your hair for a laid-back look?

8. Another simple, but sweet, low ponytail.

9. I just love this idea of making a headband out of fun yarn. Just wrap it around your head where you want it, then weave it through your ponytail and turn up into a bun! Voila!

I always like to get my Mom something a little different for Mother’s Day. Searching for a truly unique gift idea is always exciting and shows you really put some effort into it! I have found some really cool ideas this year and wanted to share a few of them with you!

What are you going to get your Mom this Mother’s Day??

Enjoy! Xo

1. This book is full of 40 cards that are meant to be sent between Mother and Daughter. Such a neat idea to preserve special cards and sentiments that are shared. Also, it can be passed on between generations as a way to keep the tradition going!

2. This Trinity Cuff is such a neat and different piece of jewelry. Perfect for the woman who has everything!

3. A message pillow is such a cool way to add a little sassy-ness to your room! I LOVE this one which is a little sweeter. However, Be Nice or Leave brings back memories of my mom saying that to my brother and I when we were younger!

4. I told you I was obsessed with succulents. This indoor planter box is just so neat and could be grown anywhere!

5. My Mom loves good tequila. These shot glasses are made from Himalayan Salt. No more licking it off your hand anymore!

6. What Mom doesn’t love a beautiful bottle of perfume? I love how delicate and beautiful this bottle is of Annick Goutal ‘Un Matin d’Orage’ Eau de Toilette.

I decided to try a Top 5  list every week of things that I find on Pinterest. I always pin so many things on there that never get looked at again and I figured this may be a good way to remind myself why I pinned them in the first place! Let me know what you think!
Enjoy! Xo

1. This yellow sundress makes me crave spring/summer. Can’t wait for the days when the Texas heat is so brutal that it only makes sense to wear a flowy sundress and some wedges.

2. What girl doesn’t dream of running around in tutus again and not having a care in the world? This picture is a great reminder to “feel like a kid again”!

3. Cinnamon Almond Milk Ice Cream. This may be the first ice cream I make of the season. I love my Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker!!!

4. This DIY Tablet Holder project is too cute. So handy for having in the kitchen to read recipes off of and less than $2! Can’t wait to try it!

5. The gorgeous blue waters of Barbados are calling our names! So excited for this exotic honeymoon location. Hurry up, October!
