Happy Friday! If you are like me, I always struggle with what to get the men in my life! They are hard to buy for and most of what they want – they get when they want it! Hopefully these ideas will help you like they helped me!

Hostess Gifts

I always find myself struggling to get the men in my life gifts for Christmas! This year is no different. Normally, when they want something, they just go get it themselves! Handsome and I are starting a new tradition where we are only going to give each other stockings each year filled with small presents (remember: small presents are sometimes the BEST presents!). Here are some ideas for stocking stuffers for that special man in your life!

Stocking Stuffers for Her

For our wedding reception, our dinner china will all be mismatched plates. I saw this idea on a blog before we were even engaged and thought it was such a neat idea. Plus, china and dishes can be SO expensive to rent. So after we got engaged, I immediately started looking for dishes to use for the wedding. It has taken me about a year and a few months to collect them all but I can proudly say I am done! It probably sounds like a miserable experience trying to find all of these plates, but I found it fun. Digging through thrift stores and flea markets to find treasures is my idea of a fun Saturday afternoon! Anyways, in my quest for dishes, I had to buy a few full sets to get what I wanted (the flea market outside of Knoxville is amazing! Got 4 full sets of beautiful dishes for $20!). In these sets were these beautiful teacups. At first, I had no idea what I was going to do with them but kept them around anyways. I saw this idea on Pinterest and knew immediately I would use these teacups for some beautiful candles at our wedding! The process was really simple and they turned out so beautiful. I cannot wait to have them burning at our rehearsal dinner.

Enjoy! Xo

Items Needed:

Beautiful teacups of any size

10 lbs of soy wax – this will get you about 25 candles of standard size teacups (I bought this one off amazon.com. It melted very easily and will burn for longer)

Candle Wicks ( I bought these off amazon.com)

Hot Glue Gun, Glue Sticks

Step One: Wash your beautiful teacups and then dry really well with a bar towel (if you have one), less lint!

Step Two: Melt your wax in a double boiler. I used a saucepan with a couple inches of water in it then a metal bowl on top to melt the wax in.

Step Three: Take your hot glue gun and put a small dot of glue in the bottom of your cup (this is where it is important to make sure your cups are really dry!)

Step Four: Press a wick into the dot of glue in each cup (some other tutorials say to use a small skewer across the top of the cup to hold your wick in place but I found I didn’t have a problem with it standing on its own)

Step Five: Take your melted wax and transfer it (carefully!) into a larger vessel with a pour spout. Then pour the wax into your cups until you are a half inch or so from the top.

Step Six: Cut your wicks while the wax is still liquid. I gave about an inch or so of wick past the wax. (Doing this at this point in the process to will help your wick to stand up straight instead of falling over.)

These kitschy salt and pepper shakers add a bit of retro to our dining room table.

Watching our new little family member (Handsome will have a fit when he sees this) play makes me laugh so much. Especially when our great dane gets down on her level to play.

I have a feeling these teacup candles I made for our wedding will most definitely find their way back to our house after the event. They turned out so beautifully (post on how to make them is coming!).

I haven’t done one of these in awhile and I have been pinning stuff like crazy lately, so I figured I would share some with you all! I’m off to Denver tonight for my bachelorette weekend and so excited! I will do a post  about it when I get back!

2. I really love unique pieces of jewelry. These pendants are made of broken china. How neat!

3. This bedside table is so awesome. And seems fairly simple to make!

4. Need to give your apartment just a little something but don’t want to make permanent marks? This washi tape is adorable when added to an entryway and peels right off!
